The following are my Top 10 Coronavirus Safety Tips. These are a general guideline for preventing infection as well as spreading the disease. In addition I have added an excerpt from a Chinese doctor with some excellent advice about prevention and treatment. Stay safe!
- Masks should be worn to decrease the risk of infecting other people by those who are already sick in order to prevent further infection. They do not really help those who are not infected. You can still get infected by touching your face & then other areas of your body such as your eyes & nose.
- When traveling using public transportation, sanitize your seat, armrests, seatback tray, back of the seat in front of you as well as the entire area around you with wipes.
- Use hand sanitizer often unless you have dry hands since it will make them dryer & possibly crack. This would lead to open wounds through which the virus could infect you.
- Avoid touching more surfaces than you must as you go about your day. This includes stair & escalator handrails as well as various types of door handles. Use a knuckle to press elevator buttons instead of a fingertip.
- Use the back of your hands, elbows, back, butt or other areas of your body if you can to open doors, move objects or navigate crowds.
- Move around the perimeter of rooms, buildings and terminals to minimize your proximity and contact with other people who will be in the interior of these areas.
- Do not travel unnecessarily. If you can postpone travel, it is prudent to consider the pros and cons of doing so. Reschedule meetings and conferences or better yet, conduct virtual meeting using online solutions such as Zoom, GoToMeeting, and Skype.
- Avoid shaking hands, hugging or embracing others with whom physical contact is not necessary. This avoids you coming into close proximity with others who may be infected.
- Do not share drinks or food with anyone for any reason including family members. Think twice before choosing to dine at a buffet in lieu of a restaurant or dine in to minimize touching buffet serving utencils.
- Practice good basic hygiene by washing your hands regularly, not touching your face, and by covering your nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing. You can sneeze or cough into the inside of your elbow instead of your hands if no tissues or napkins are available. Keep tissues and sanitizing hand wipes in your purse or pocket.
This is from a Master Degree holder who recently worked in Shenzhen Hospital and later then transferred to Wuhan – the epicenter of the disease to study the new pneumonia virus.
He called his relatives to pass this useful information to all relatives and friends.
QUOTE: “If you have a running nose and sputum occur during a cold, it cannot be concluded that it is the new coronavirus pneumonia. Because coronavirus is a dry cough without a running nose, this is the simplest way to identify it.
This new type of coronary pneumonia virus is not heat resistant and will be killed in an environment above 27°C (80°F). Therefore, drink plenty of hot liquids to help prevent the virus. As long as the body maintains heat (eat more ginger and do more exercise), and you will reduce your chances of becoming infected with the virus.
If you have a high fever, cover yourself with a quilt and drink ginger soup to increase the body’s heat energy without the need for a vaccine. Eating more ginger, garlic, and pepper can solve it. Eat less sweet, sour and salty foods and don’t go to cold weather areas if possible. The virus will disappear completely when exposed to the Sun.
Everyone can share this and help one another.”
Please share with whoever you wish, as it may save some lives. The above may explain why very few persons are infected in the currently warmer climates of Indonesia and India. Please take a few minutes to email & inform as many of your friends and your relatives as possible.
