SAFETY ON CAMPUS

College students and their parents used to worry about getting good grades, finding a job after graduation and whether or not they would be living at home after college. However, in recent years the primary concern has been ensuring that students stay safe at college while they are away from home.

There are many safety challenges facing today’s students.  Some of these challenges have always been there such as alcohol responsibility and bullying.  However, many modern challenges didn’t exist a generation ago.

Some of these new challenges include cyber-bullying, credit card and ATM safety, dorm room security, setting personal boundaries, sexual and physical assault, terrorism, and active shooters.

Personal safety both on and off-campus is every individual’s responsibility.  You must look out for yourself at all times and make smart decisions.  College is a HUGE  investment in your future, and you surely don’t want to mess that up, or make it more expensive than it has to be.  Paying big fines and losing your license from a DUI conviction or getting kicked out of school for sexual assault will not only cost you money, but could result in lost scholarship funds and will most definitely impact your future in a very negative way.
